Free To Choose...

Daily Scripture- Day 1

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)

  1. Father God, I thank you for freeing me from the burdens of my life! I pray that through my sacrifice that someone will be brought closer to you.

  2. Christ died to set us all free from sin and from the very long list of laws, rules, and regulations that governed the people before the death, burial and resurrection Jesus Christ. Thank God. For now I am free, able and willing to live the abundant life in Christ. How blessed I am. It is with this freedom that I can choose to fast and pray to grow closer to Him as I pray for my lost and burdened sisters.

  3. It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 (NASB)

Let us examine the social atmosphere of the early Galatians church, as we focus on our scripture (Galatians 5:1) for Women Month. Paul is speaking to the Christians in Galatia (mainly Gentiles). Apparently, after Paul left the churches in Galatia, troublemakers ("Judaizers" False teachers) infiltrated the churches preaching or proclaiming a different version of the gospel Paul taught. The "Judaizers " wanted the Christians Gentiles to become Jews and accept the Mosaic Laws, but Paul refuted this doctrine proclaiming Christianity was different from Judaism. According to the Gospel, Christians were not bound by the laws of Judaism but had liberty in Christ vs. bondage under the law. Paul argues that salvation is by grace through faith and apart from works.

Question: What does this free gift of liberty (freedom) means to you?

  4. Each day we probably make several choices and not think about the choices we just made but they were important. In Deuteronomy 30:19, God gave Israel a choice between life and death, the blessing and the curse. Allow the WORD of God to encourage you to make the right decisions in life. Remember, God loves you and He wants the best for His children.
